Since the early formation of the Thread ecosystem in 2014, GRL has played a foundational role in the development and evolution of the Thread Test Harness, helping shape it into a practical, automation-driven environment for IoT validation. The GRL Test Harness has made a significant impact on ease of use in Thread testing by enabling automated test execution, improving consistency and repeatability, and making it easier for engineering teams to integrate conformance and regression testing into internal development workflows. Today, it continues to serve as an important part of the Thread development and validation ecosystem.
Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA)
As a solution provider to the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) ecosystem, GRL Platform Solutions helps advance the development, validation, and certification readiness of next-generation IoT products. By supporting standards-based test automation and interoperability-focused engineering workflows, GRL Platform Solutions helps reduce validation complexity, improve product confidence, and accelerate readiness for connected technologies such as Matter. Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF) and IoTivity

GRL Platform Solutions Wireless IoT Test Solutions
Access the official Thread IoT test harness
In 2014, GRL Platform Solutions was selected by the Thread Group to develop the official Thread test harness, an integrated software and hardware automation tool used to test the Thread protocol stack. Through close collaboration with UL and the Thread Technical Committee, GRL Platform Solutions successfully incorporated the Thread IoT test harness into the Thread product certification program.
Founded by an industry alliance consisting of ARM, NXP Semiconductor, Nest, Samsung, and Silicon Labs, the Thread Group has grown rapidly since late 2014 and continues to provide reliable, cost-effective, and low-power IP-based communication for IoT applications.
November 2016 saw the release of Thread Group’s initial hardware reference test bed and test harness, as well as the opening of its test labs to members. That same year, the alliance established a new tier of sponsor-level membership, which consisted of ARM, NXP, and Silicon Labs. The first conforming stacks to successfully pass the Thread 1.1 technical specification testing was also released during the same period.
